EXPLORE THE RULE VALLEY

The Scottish Borders has some of the most breathtaking scenery in the UK

The absolute must is to climb from the campsite up to the top of Ruberslaw (424 m). You will have a fantastic 360°view south and east over Rulewater to the Cheviots and the English Border, north over Teviotdale to the Eildons, Ettrick Forest and the Moorfoot Hills, and west to Craik Forest. This iconic Borders hill will open up a world of routes accessible from the campsite.

Drop down off Ruberslaw for lunch to the Horse & Hounds in Bonchester Bridge before walking back to camp along Rule water.

If you are more focused on food, a walk of 20 - 30 minutes along the marked route to Denholm brings you to the Cross Keys or Fox & Hounds pubs, The Denholm Meet restaurant, and the Cream Puff Cafe set around the village green. Walk back enjoying the long summer evening.

The Borders Abbeys Way runs past the campsite – a 68 mile circular route linking the historic border towns and ruined Abbeys. Why not start and finish with us? More details on The Borders Abbey Way.

You can walk from the campsite into Jedburgh or through Denholm to Hawick along way marked routes, for shopping and sightseeing.
